For some people, they would rather head out to take a jog, go cycling or mountain climbing than to get into a regimented fitness class. My Pilates partner invited couple of friends for a few sessions of Mat Pilates classes and after four sessions, they decided that Pilates wasn’t for them.
I know of friends who train with Kettlebell dumb bells and focus alot on muscle building. For me, Pilates is a great activity to build muscles without the bulk. The stretches can help to ‘lengthen’ our body as you use your breath and core muscles to engage and connect. No, you won’t grow taller after Pilates exercises but you can walk taller. There is a difference. As your posture improves and body alignment gets better, you naturally look ‘taller’.
