What Pilates Activity is About

For some people, they would rather head out to take a jog, go cycling or mountain climbing than to get into a regimented fitness class. My Pilates partner invited couple of friends for a few sessions of Mat Pilates classes and after four sessions, they decided that Pilates wasn’t for them.

I know of friends who train with Kettlebell dumb bells and focus alot on muscle building. For me, Pilates is a great activity to build muscles without the bulk. The stretches can help to ‘lengthen’ our body as you use your breath and core muscles to engage and connect. No, you won’t grow taller after Pilates exercises but you can walk taller. There is a difference. As your posture improves and body alignment gets better, you naturally look ‘taller’.

Pilates can be cardio

Opposed to what some people think, Pilates can be a cardio activity if it’s done with intensity. Doing the workout intensely doesn’t mean that you do it fast but you can increase the repetitions.

As a matter of fact, I got really tired after the intermediate/advanced mat workout last week. The exercises required a certain of strength to carry out and I was having some difficulty in the beginning. For the first time, I experienced the toughness in Pilates mat workout but it was great. I had to be more aware of my breathing and I was also taught that my breathing could help me with some advanced workouts. I had underestimated that.

I’m looking forward to another pilates drill tomorrow before heading to the store to upgrade my pc memory for my notebook. Pilates is such a great workout but it is unfortunate that some people think that it is too low and boring. I suppose they have yet to experience the intensity of Pilates fitness.

Desiring a career in Pilates Fitness

Over the last week, I have been searching information on the Polestar Pilates teachers’ training courses. I never thought I would be keen to pursue a career in Pilates fitness but it seems that this desire is burning inside me more and more each day.

As such, I will be attending the Polestar Pilates Conference to be held on the 18-19 July in Singapore. I am taking this as an eye opener for myself as all the pilates instructors, teachers and enthusiasts gather together at the Singapore Arts Museum for a time of learning and sharing. Pilates has done my body much good and I can feel that my body alignment is improving. With rolfing, it is also increasing my body awareness and my body weight is distributed more evenly.

Many people have sought Pilates fitness classes to lose weight. For some, time is a big factor so they are opting for weight loss dietary kits and bar to assist them. Pilates can also be learn via good home video or DVD if you can’t find any classes where you live.

I’m looking forward to another Pilates mat session tomorrow.

So Many Kinds of Pilates

When I check out Pilates in Australia, I am pleasantly greeted with lots of good resources in the web. Since I’m thinking about teachers’ training in months to come, it is necessary to do my groundwork and found out more about what it takes to have a Pilates career.

With so many kinds of Pilates globally including Winsor Pilates, Stott Pilates, Polestar Pilates and more, I need to expose myself to various disciplines to know what I really is suited for. Pilates is often used for rehab all over the world and largely in Australia and US. I have been told by my instructor that Pilates in HK, US and Australia is way ahead of many countries.

Well, with the current economy where people are talking to wholesale liquidators and financial advisors, I also need to be vigilant about the fees for a Pilates education. OK, I’m off for my Polestar Pilates class…

Looking for Teachers’ Training in Pilates

I’ve been browsing the web and researching on teachers’ training courses in Polestar Pilates and others. It looks like I would need to allow 2 years to complete the allegro and mat courses.

Then it’s also the timing and costs to consider. Somehow, there isn’t any licensed teachers’ training courses for Polestar Pilates in Malaysia and the nearest would be Singapore. I would definitely look more into the certification courses in weeks to come. For now, I’m looking forward to a good break in Singapore and hoping to do some research for a friend in a light fixture store. I can’t wait to eat my favourite foods and get a hair cut! If time allows, I may even pop into a Pilates studio for a look.

Pilates is such a great fitness workout and it is working well for my body so far. I find myself wanting to learn more and know more about how it helps the body to function and work better! If you can’t try out Pilates in a class, try grabbing a Pilates video!

Stronger Basics in Polestar Pilates

I just completed my third Polestar Pilates class today - it was another interesting session. Since I’m working out on a duet training with the studio director, there are times when I’ll be left alone to complete certain workouts.

My studio director was telling me about the upcoming Polestar Pilates conference hosted by Focus Pilates in Singapore. I was definitely keen on the conference until I found out that the dates (18-19 July) will clash with my son’s sports day. I’ve been thinking about the teachers’ training courses so the conference may be a good insight for me. Even I have only done three classes with Polestar Pilates, I can only note the difference in terms of foundational principles when comparing it with Stott Pilates. I find Polestar Pilates more grounded with stronger basic focus on the anatomy.

I’m hoping to get some private Polestar Pilates sessions with the senior instructor in weeks to come. For now, I’m heading to check out somefree online auctions for my online shopping spree.

Working out with Pilates equipment

My interest for Mat Pilates is growing after two classes at a local Pilates center. After working out on the reformer for 4 over months, it’s good to learn some Mat Pilates routines so that I can practice it at home.

Mat Pilates can be a fun exercise and I have heard many successful stories of how women have lost weight from the regular workout routines. If you ask me, exercising regularly to shed extra pounds can be better than all weight loss options. I read about the best appetite suppressant and many other weight loss supplements and it’s good to know that some people have benefited from these options.

You can actually purchase simple Pilates equipment and build your core muscles with a few easy steps. A good Pilates book will be helpful and beneficial so that you can understand the fundamentals of Pilates. Using a Pilates video has proven to be effective if you follow it diligently and set aside some time every week for a good pilates workout.

Mat Pilates via a Pilates video

It was a great Mat Pilates workout this morning, even though we had to fall back on the basics for the benefit of a couple of new students.

Mat Pilates is one of the easiest workouts that can be carried out in your home and if you need some guidance, grabbing a Pilates video is a great step to start. Learning Pilates via a video is equally helpful but you should make sure that you are picking the right level. There are many beginner Pilates videos and once you get used to the workouts and are familiar with the basics, then you can move on to something more advanced.

After my workout, I went for a coffee and caught up with my emails and I had to make sure that there was enough notebook memory in my netbook. Taking a break after a Pilates class can be relaxing and it allows me to have some personal time before heading back to my home office. I’m looking forward to my Polestar Pilates class in two days’ time.

First session on Polestar Pilates

Last week I started my first lesson in Polestar Pilates. At first I thought we would be moving straight to the intermediary level but I was wrong.

After that one hour of stretching and brief workout on the allegro reformer, I realized that we would need to get back to the basics again. Polestar Pilates is alot more detailed compared to Stott Pilates. Even when it comes to the breathing part, I realized that I would need to relearn how to do it correctly. Somehow I felt that I had chosen the right Pilates fitness to continue my training. I was even more pleased to see that the studio had a Gyrotonic machine! Polestar is really quite different. It is basic but precise, detailed and focused.

The one hour went passed so fast that I found that I had not had enough of Pilates exercises. We left off to grab lunch and I had to shop for a candle gift for a birthday party. Tomorrow, I’ll be starting my first Pilates Mat class in a group and I can’t wait to stretch and work on those core muscles again. I’m even more eager to learn Pilates with the stability ball cos’ that’s where I can be more efficient at home with my exercise routine.

Pilates Fitness and Weight Management

Everyday, millions of people are finding out how they can be thinner, slimmer, fitter and healthier. One can pick up a Pilates Video and learn a few steps to gain stronger core muscles, I personally believe that you would need personal guidance to achieve your weight management goals.

Next week, I’ll be starting a new Pilates class. After learning Stott Pilates for 5 months, I feel that it’s time to learn more about the other types of Pilates out there. I have chosen Polestar Pilates which has been known to help people with specific problems in their body. Personally, I have come to accept that there is no best diet supplement if you are not willing to ’sacrifice’. It just meant that you need to sacrifice time to gain the body you want.

Pilates fitness may not be the only workout to help you attain your weight loss goals but it’s certainly one of the great methods around.
